Traffic is heavily associated with exposure and revenue. The more traffic you get, the more revenue and exposure you’re site or brand will achieve. Any experienced webmaster will tell you that traffic is an important part of any website. They will also tell you bringing in good amounts of traffic, consistently is a part time job.
The easiest way to bring a consistent amount of traffic to your website is through Search Engine Optimization. This is when you edit the code of your websites so that they can be indexed and found easily by users searching on sites like Google.com and Yahoo.com.
Below are some free methods that you might want to think about using for bringing in traffic, gaining exposure and maybe making some money on the side.
1. Email all your friends. – Hotmail.com and Yahoo.com allow users to mass email all there contacts. Email your friends saying that you’ve got a new website and that you think they might like it and they
should tell their friends. Make sure you also put your website in your email signature
2. Submit it to social networking sites. – Social networking sites are valuable tools in freely advertising your website. The reason they are good is that they get high amounts of traffic which can be passed on to you. Digg.com and reddit.com are both social networking sites.
3. Join up to forums – Forums are a great way of getting consistent traffic. A good method is to join forums that interest you or are related to your topic then in your signature put a link to your website. In your profile you might also want to think about putting a link to your website.
4. Article Directories – If your site is content based, take for example a site on dogs and you’ve written numerous article about dogs, say “Dog walking tips” or “Dogs diets” You could submit your article to article websites. These are sites where there’s many
categories that users submit their info to. These are great for building up links, traffic, and pagerank to your website.
5. Tell every person you meet – Offline marketing is a reasonable way of increasing traffic. Depending on what type of site you’ve got
you could get a lot of traffic if you’re telling teen ages about your Acne site. But if you’re telling them about your Real Estate website, you can’t really expect them to visit your website, even if they are your friends!
