Increase Website Traffic With Article Marketing!
We all know the saying - ‘A picture speaks a thousand words‘ - but marketing your website effectively is going
to take a lot more than a few attention-grabbing images!

Yes, you guessed it. Article marketing involves writing real words (happily it doesn’t have to be as many as 1000, 500 is pretty popular online).

Informing potential customers about your site through article marketing can get you a real boost in website traffic. This comes from having the article reproduced on other relevant sites with back links to your website and also because you’ll likely get positive effects on your search engine ranking.

Often people pick a topic, write an article about it and post it up on their website or submit it to a selection of article directories. They then sit back and wait for the publicity and recognition they’re sure the article will bring. But things are never as simple as that, in order for the article to make the greatest impact you must write, present and distribute it in the most effective way possible.

Let’s help you do that.

Before Writing

If you’re not an expert in the chosen topic you’ll need to do as much research as you possibly can - there’s so much information on the Internet you’re bound to find many relevant sources. Next, think about what points you are trying to get across, who your target readers are and what their level of knowledge is. Then spend some time thinking about the structure of the article, you won’t go far wrong if you start with an Introduction, Main Body and a Conclusion. You might find it helps to list
the topics you’re going to be covering and use them as section headings.

Finally, write your heart out!

The Article Itself

The truth is the better your writing style the more credible you will be and the more likely people will be to take note of your products and services. Also, the less your article sounds like a hard sell the more likely it is to appeal to editors and readers alike. Try to capture the attention of the reader, make the content intriguing and keep the writing fluid. You want to write the kind of article people would be happy to link to.

Which brings us to the website traffic benefits of online article marketing. If your article is popular there will be many links back to your site (we don’t have to remind you to include a links in the body or in the author resource box do we?).
Imagine the volume of clicks you’d get if your article were posted on a high traffic site. And all those back links on relevant sites will do tremendous things to your search engine ranking (again, we don’t have to remind you to use your keyword as the anchor text do we?).

Keep in mind that most article directories and newsletters will have a standard format that you need to follow in order for them to publish your work. You might write a brilliant 1500-word article, but it will be pretty useless if you then submit it to places that only accept articles 500 words or less. Try to keep the word count slightly higher than the limit, it’s always easier to cut stuff out than to make additions to a finished article.

Article Submission

Be sure to target newsletters that are dedicated to your topic, with article directories make sure you submit to the correct category.

Opinion varies as to how many article directories you should submit to, a deciding factor is always going to be how long it takes.
If you have the money you could hire someone to do this rather tedious task else you might want to try automatic submission software - we’d always recommend the manual method. If you don’t have the time or the means to make many submissions then start with the most popular article directories.

Each article directory will have guidelines regarding the content of the author box, hyperlinks etc. Make good use of hyperlinks wherever you’re allowed them - and don’t forget to use your keywords as the anchor text!
