Really, manual submission can be so so so so tedious, first of all you have to find a good list of directories that you haven’t submitted to before and then for each and every directory on the list:

• Check that they don’t require reciprocal links (cos that’s what we prefer)
• Check you can afford the price (if you’re lucky it will be free)
• Search for the category that fits your website – for some sectors this can be quite impossible!
• Modify your description to fit the directory’s requirements – oh the tears when they have a minimum length that’s much longer than any of your standard descriptions
• Press the submit button (or equivalent)
• Wait for the confirmation email (some of them require you visit a link – ugh!)

Over and over and over again.
